In Fairness to Rand Paul

1. Rand Paul, candidate for the US Senate from Kentucky, has many extreme opinions.
2. He is running as a Republican, and his opponent, Jack Conway, is running as a Democrat.
3. Conway used classic attack-ad tactics on Paul, and they backfired a little.
4. The Young Turks, a liberal-leaning Internet analysis group, decried the attack ad as "silly."
Much fun has been poked at Rand Paul's hair, I will admit.

  1. "Libertarians believe that government should be as small as possible. In a nutshell, that is pretty much it. The Libertarian bumper sticker to the right also sums up the Libertarian Party perfectly- Pro-choice about everything. Libertarians are strong proponents for personal liberty for every individual. 'Live and let live' could be the Libertarian creed."

I agree with personal liberty, I myself am a registered Democrat. However, I do not believe in little government involvment. I believe fully in government assistance. At least where it is needed. I was raised in a home dependent on government assistance, my mother has her own issues so we didn't have the best living conditions. If it wasn't for government assistance my sisters and I would have never survived. Which is most likely the reason I am so liberal.

  2. Libertarian- a person who advocates liberty, especially with regard to thought or conduct. In my opinion I believe libertarianism is a good thing because its pro freedom of thought and expression.

  3. Even though Jack Conway tries to embrace is right to attack Rand Paul through freedom of press, does not necessarily allude for a national television commercial to attack something that happened so long ago, an advertisement that is meant to better the viewers of the advertisement. Especially since its anonymous, which may lead to a bias statement.

but, they were right. this aqua colored bong looks like something the phrase aqua bong refers to.

Libertarianism: a political philosophy maintaining that all persons are the absolute owners of their own lives, and should be free to do whatever they wish with their persons or property, provided they allow others the same liberty.
    http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/libertarianism

Libertarianism, as a theory is very appealing. It sounds beneficial and preferable to not have a government interfering with personal lives, however, in practice, it is unrealistic. Unfortunately, I think human nature and tendencies make government laws and regulations necessary. Like communiism, citizens would surely prove to bring out the worst in the system.

Libitarian:-noun 1.a person who advocates liberty, esp. with regard to thought or conduct.

I agree with individual rights or freedom. I am a registered democrat. I agree with this definition, but I could not find the economic definition. They believe I want to say "conservatively". As in small government interaction. I disagree with small government involvement. I think, if help is needed, give it. The government is there to assist where assistance is needed. I grew up in a household dependent on government assistance. I have witnessed first hand the possitive aspects it has.

Wait, I found a better definition.(:

What do libertarians believe in? In a few words, they believe that individual freedom is the fundamental value that must underlie all social relations, economic exchanges and the political system. They believe that voluntary co-operation between individuals in a free market is always preferable to coercion exerted by the state. They believe that the role of the state is not to pursue goals in the name of the community. The state is not there to redistribute wealth, "promote" culture, "support" the agricultural sector, or "help" small firms, but should limit itself to the protection of individual rights and let citizens pursue their own goals in a peaceful way.

My thoughts remain the same. I only have one argument against this definition. I agree that the government is not there to redistribute weath, to a certain extent. This is not a communist state where we should all be equal. Of course there should be different levels of social classes. (rich, middle class, poor) However, If someone can not feed their children because they're so addicted to drugs they blow their money in the blink of an eye and their children are to young to work, food stamps are a major dependency.

  8. Libertarianism is people who want less government and less government involvement in their life. I believe that libertarianism exceeds what we need. If they want less government than what will keep everyone in line? I do think that we shouldn’t be adding more laws like we are now but we shouldn’t go around below a certain amount of laws. Libertarians want their space and privacy but only a certain amount should be provided until others begin to get out of control and become suspicious of each other. I do believe some issues should be left out of government such as personal rights. For example, Prop 8 wants to ban gay marriage and make it a constitutional law. I believe that is a personal issue and the government shouldn't even be allowing something like this to occur. There are certain standards that should be met but not exceeded, and libertarians are lowering the standards too low so they cannot be met. They talk a lot about how people should have their privacy to do what they want without having the government get involved in their lives and daily decisions. I can agree with that idea, because I wouldn’t want the government on my shoulder watching everything I do. But when they want as much space as they are talking about then I would have to say that they are going a bit over board with not having the government. People do begin to act strange when more laws are made and they want to only begin to break them to show that they don’t have to follow what others say because they are their own individual. The government is more needed for the basic laws that ‘try’ to keep everyone safe. Libertarians are set in their way, but I would tell them to change the amount of how much interaction the government should have to ensure that our country is safe but not over protected.

    Libertarianism-
"Philosophical principle that suggests that a government's involvement in civil economical and social matters should be limited, and that the issues should be settled amongst civilians. Libertarianism seeks to provide free-will participants the ability to make decisive decisions without the government determining or influencing the outcome, as long as it does not harm other individuals. Libertarianism is based off the belief that each individual owns every aspect of their lives and thus should have the ability to control it. Libertarians strongly believe that through these shared principles, they are able to establish a more fruitful and peaceful society. Libertarianism traces its roots back to the early 1890s as societies tried to escape anti-anarchist laws in France"

I agree with Libertarianism to a certain degree. I do believe that there are certain matters, like social matters, in which should be left to the citizens. However, without some of the government control , I believe that things would go crazy. It's like parents and kids. Kids know how to be responsible to a point but in some ways they need rules and guidance otherwise there would be chaos. Which in turn would not allow for a more peaceful society.

Libertarianism is the belief in liberty and freedom to do what you wish to do with your life and property. This also includes respecting others and their actions as long as they do not harm each other. This gives the maximum opportunity to pursue dreams and to realize their full potential.

    http://www.libertarianism.com/

The idea given by this sounds very good but there needs to be government involvement to enforce rules. There will never be a society like explained above. It is very convincing to follow this belief because it helps you pursue you dream easily but a country can not function without government control.

  11. libertarianism- an advocate of the doctrine of free will(http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/libertarianism)

I believe in libertarianism and that we should be granted more freedoms and the government should be kept out of our lives more. The government should not be able to decide who can or who cant be married and many other things..
